Her research interests are in the area of immigrant health, HIV, and risk behaviors among Latinos. Dr. Bianchi has done some clinical and evaluation work in the community and has served as the Project Director on several NIH-funded projects. She is currently the Principal Investigator of an NIH-funded R21 grant in the area of HIV and sexual risk among Latino day laborers; the Principal Investigator of a grant funded by the GWU HIV/AIDS Institute in partnership with the Veterans Affair (VA) Medical Center on the risks of smoking and HIV; and a Co-Investigator on an international NIH-funded R01 grant in Colombia looking at HIV risk and circumcision among men who have sex with men and the displaced population. Dr. Bianchi is a native of Brazil and received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from The George Washington University in 1997. She has published extensively since then and serves as a reviewer for several scientific journals. Dr. Bianchi has been a member of the Latino Health Steering Committee of Montgomery County since 2006 and a board member of local CBO, Identity, since 2009. She feels honored to be able to do research, volunteer and advocate on behalf of the Latino community.
